Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer reveal scheduled for August

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is an upcoming first-person shooter from Activision’s Infinity Ward studio. The team developed the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, so it has the necessary experience to shine a modern light on the series. Unlike 2018’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare features a single-player campaign as well as traditional multiplayer modes.

Today, Activision revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s multiplayer gameplay would be revealed on August 1. The company said the following.

Featuring unified progression across modes, Modern Warfare seeks to unite the community with plans to support cross-play across platforms and the removal of the traditional season pass in order to deliver a greater mix of more free maps, content and community events post-launch.

As a teaser, the publisher allowed a few popular streamers to play the game’s new two-on-two mode “Gunfight” mode. Gunfight delivers a new level of quick-action, close-quarters duo-based combat that is a blast to play.

It’ll be interesting to see how multiplayer changes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. From what we saw on Twitch, the combat is a lot like Battlefield V and Rainbow Six Siege. However, only time will tell how it stacks up to the competition. August 1 is definitely going to be a defining moment for the Call of Duty franchise, that’s for sure!

Look who’s back!
