Could this mysterious Motorola phone without a notch or hole punch be the Moto G8?

A new Motorola smartphone is on the horizon, but unfortunately, we have no idea how it might be called and its specifications are also kept under wraps. What we do know is that its “all-screen” design will include razor-thin side bezels, almost no forehead, but oddly enough, a sufficiently large chin to accommodate a full-sized company logo.

This information comes from mobile leaking legend Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, who’s been able to obtain two product images showcasing the mysterious handset’s front panel in all its glory, as well as a side-mounted volume rocker and power button. Alas, the backplate of the unreleased mobile device is not pictured here, contributing to the mystery, although we’re fairly certain a conventional fingerprint reader will be located on the phone’s rear.

The most interesting detail, of course, is the absence of a front-facing camera. But just because we can’t see it, it doesn’t mean the selfie shooter will go away entirely. Instead, we’re guessing Motorola is gearing up to adopt some sort of a pop-up imaging system for the first time, which will help the company eliminate the notch or hole punch in its attempt to get as close as possible to a bezelless design.

This obviously means we’re not looking at the Motorola One Zoom or One Action, which are widely expected to sport a waterdrop-style notch and hole-in-display design respectively. The chin appears to suggest this is not the high-ender Moto needs so badly right now either, so we’ll just have to assume we’re dealing with a mid-range model that hasn’t been leaked before. Perhaps a Moto G8 variant? That’s merely a wild guess, and only time will tell if we’re correct in making the prediction (with a low degree of confidence).
